The festival is owned and managed by TEAM Sports Travel (the leading schools tour operator in South Africa) in the beautiful City of Cape Town and occurs in July annually. The festival has grown immensely over the past 16 years with the standard and quality of the event increasing annually.

The event is oversubscribed annually due to its popularity and the participating teams are now limited to 48 School teams split between U18 Boys and Girls.

The 2019 festival will be the 17th consecutive year (excluding 2010 due to the Soccer World Cup in SA) of this prestigious event and promises to be the best yet! It will be held from 09 to 14 July 2019 and will feature 48 teams (24 boys and 24 girls teams). The teams are made up of both local and international talent, departing from the UK, Zimbabwe, Namibia and South Africa.

The Cape Town Hockey Festival is a Western Province Hockey Union sanctioned event and the technical component of the Tournament is managed by WPHU in conjunction with Team Sports Travel staff. The Tournament is played in accordance with FIH standards (Federation of International Hockey), placing this event as the leading under 18 Schools Hockey Festival globally.

It is very important that all managers and coaches attend the registration. All the information regarding the festival and rules will be discussed. Managers and coaches will also be able to collect the managers packs & documentation, team shirts and festival programmes. Please note that the venue and time will be confirmed shortly. MATCHES START - 8AM All venues will begin at 8am. Please ensure that if you are playing at 8am, you take into account the Cape Town peak hour traffic, which will add time to your journey. When you arrive at the venue, check in with your venue manager and begin warming up. The astro will only be available 15Min before the game is set to begin.   MATCHES FINISH - 16:00PM The last match of the Day will always take place at Hartleyvale. We would like to encourage everyone when they are finished their games, to come down to Hartleyvale to support. When you are finished with your games, please ensure you take all your belongings.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS – QUARTER FINALS AT HARTLEYVALE - 15:30PM This coming year, Friday Night Lights, will be bigger and better. We would like to once again encourage all teams to come down and support the quarter finals. QUARTER FINALS FINISHES - 21:00PM The quarter final matches all take place at Hartleyvale. It will be an action-packed evening with a great deal of excitement, however please ensure you take all your belongings when leaving the stadium.

GIRLS FINAL - 14:15PM The girls final is set to take place at Hartleyvale at 14:15pm. This always makes for a great game for spectators so ensure you get down to Hartleyvale and catch all the action. Who will be crowned the girls 2018 champions? BOYS FINAL - 15:30PM The boys final is set to take place at Hartleyvale at 15:30pm. The boys final is always action-packed and a match not to be missed. Ensure you get down to Hartleyvale and catch all the action. Who will be crowned the boys 2018 champions? Will it be Paul Roos Gymnasium for the 5th consecutive year or will someone be taking home gold? CLOSING CEREMONY - 17:00PM Stick around after the finals and watch the teams receive their medals and trophies. The closing ceremony will also include prizes for top goal scorers , man and lady of the festival and many other prizes. Don't miss the opportunity to be announced and collect your prize at the closing ceremony.

FAQ’S

Only the managers and/or coaches of each team need to attend registration on 9 July 2019. Here the festival rules will be explained and they will collect the team shirts, managers packs, programmes and additional documentation.
The fixtures will be released by the 15 June 2019. A mail will be sent out notifying each contact person of the fixtures.
Every team will have the opportunity to play a minimum of 6 games throughout the festival.
Although we are an u18 festival, players who turn 19 within the year, will still have the opportunity to participate in the festival.
