11 Days
Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka is a highly recommended cricket destination as it offers a high level of competition as well as a culturally rich experience. Flight times can be minimised using a direct routing on Sri Lankan Airlines from London Heathrow. Sri Lanka’s position close to the Equator means that temperatures remain fairly constant all year round.

Sri Lanka is a multi-ethnic, multi-religious and multi-cultural society, a reflection of the island’s encounter with successive foreign immigrants. The cultivation of many types of rice, spices, vegetables and fruit, coupled with past foreign influences, ensures that Sri-Lanka enjoys a varied and select cuisine. As a staple, rice is consumed with an assortment of colourful curries (eggplant, potato, green banana, chicken and fish) that range in potency from delicately-spiced to near-dynamite.

We recommend that the best time to visit the West, South coasts and Hill Country are December – March. The best weather on the East coast is from April – September. School holidays in Sri Lanka are April, August and December. The Monsoon period is between May and September in the South West; and between October and January in the North East.

With regard to cricket, you can expect a competition rating of 5 out of 5.

  • Galle – Galle is the capital of the south and one of Sri Lanka’s most cosmopolitan places. With a spectacular setting on the south-western tip of the island, Galle is surrounded by palm-fringed beaches like those in Hikkaduwa and forest-clad hills. The city has had a chequered and varied history; a range of influences and cultures having crossed paths over the centuries. Famous for its 17th-century Dutch fort, the old part of the city is home to some of the island’s best craft shops, restaurants and bars, and some of its best accommodation.
